Wintry Market has had so much fun showcasing our favorite things about the Holiday season for the last 12 days. To round out the 12 Days of Wintry, we are pleased to announce that the sponsor of our photo booth, Two Bird Studio will be donating 100% of the profits from the photo booth back to Ballet Idaho, specifically the By Special Invitation program. Yes, 100% profits. How awesome is that?!

Wanna help out? Here's how:

The photo booth will be filled with winter themed props and for only $2 a photo, Two Bird Studio will capture a fun moment with you and whoever you bring to enjoy Wintry Market goodness. Need a Christmas card photo for this year? What about that family portrait you keep forgetting to schedule? Make a note to come down to Wintry Market not only to get a high quality portrait done by a professional photographer, but also help out an amazing cause with Ballet Idaho.

Our By Special Invitation program provides an opportunity for individuals represented by local organizations from a wide array of socio/economic/ethnic backgrounds to attend a full production of Ballet Idaho’s mainstage performances free of charge.

Sponsored blocks of tickets are distributed to partner social service organizations and individuals who would not otherwise have the means or the opportunity to attend a live performance. Approximately 2,800 children, veterans, refugees and their families will benefit from the program. By Special Invitation furthers a significant part of Ballet Idaho’s core mission; to bring diverse groups of people together for a common experience and communicate through fine music, choreography, performance, scenic design and costumes, a deeper understanding of the way in which classic ballet relates to the other arts and the values of Western culture.

12 Days // Recipe: Pumpkin Gingerbread Smoothie

Fall is the perfect time of year to indulge in everything pumpkin: pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, carving scary faces into big bright orange pumpkins. The options are endless, and trust us, we take full advantage. However, as good as pumpkin tastes, it's not always the best for the waistline (read: PIE). Today we bring you a great tasting, and nutritious Pumpkin Gingerbread Smoothie from Angela Lidden from Oh She Glows to help you get your pumpkin fix without the undesired side effects, such as larger pants. You can thank us later.

Ingredients:

1 cup almond milk, plus a bit more if necessary
1/4 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 cup pureed pumpkin
1 tbsp blackstrap molasses
1 small frozen banana
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
pinch nutmeg
Ice, if desired

1. Soak the oats, almond milk, and chia seeds for at least an hour or overnight. This helps them digest better and it also gives the smoothie a smoother texture.

2. Place all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth. Add ice if desired.

What a cute DIY we featured yesterday! So easy, and so cute, how can you go wrong? Today we have another great Gift Guide, this time with items to give to your closest friends. What better way to say how you mean than give a gift from one (or many!) of our local vendors? We think a gift that is made with love is one of the most precious gifts you could give. How about an up-cycled vintage doorknob wine stopper, a ring made out of spoons and forks, a wonderful set of vintage pyrex or a beautifully knitted scarf? All sound good to us!

12 days// DIY Paper Christmas Tree Decoration

One of our most favorite things about the Holiday season here at Wintry Market, is making things to celebrate, of course! Today for the 12 Days of Wintry, we bring you an easy project to help you spruce up your Holiday decor without breaking the bank.

For this project, you only need a few things: cardboard cones (found at your favorite craft store), 4-5 festive sheets of scrapbooking paper, double sided tape, and Modge Podge, a sponge brush, round shaped paper punch or scissors.

First thing you need to do is cut your paper! We used a round paper punch with a scalloped edge to cut our paper, but scissors work just as well! After you have cut out the circles, cut them in half, like you see above.

Next, tape half circles onto cardboard cone, staggering the pieces. After you have taped all the pieces, cover the entire cone in Modge Podge for extra protection. Now all you need to do is sit back and enjoy your new Holiday decor! Enjoy.

Exciting times over here at Wintry Market! We have painted the town red with our amazing poster (thanks Jason Sievers!) so keep an eye out for it. We also have a giveaway going on over at Traveling Triplets, and trust us, it's definitely worth it. Monday, October 17th is the last day to enter, so go check it out!! In other news, we would like to introduce you to Belle Fourche:

No. Not the adorable dog. That amazing repurposed, up-cycled biking HAT, silly! We are so excited to have Belle Fourche sell their biking wares at Wintry Market. From the cutest cycling hats made out of mens work pants and shirts, among other reused fabrics, to bike tool rolls that makes everything you need within reach, Belle Fourche has you covered. Their hats have been tested and approved by bike kids across the country so get ready to toss it on, grab your messenger bag and hit the streets! Plus, Robin Williams owns a Belle Fourche hat, so if you want to be part of the club, you better snatch one up too!

The ingenuity and small details like buttons and pockets that pay homage to the former lives of the repurposed fabric are what we love most about Belle Fourche. Bike on over to Wintry Market at Ballet Idaho Auditorium on Nov. 5th and 6th to pick one up for youself, or your most loved ones!

Hello again, fellow supporters of fantastic locally made goods! Time again for another vendor spotlight! Before we dive into that, though, take time to enter our giveaway that ends October 1st! Who can pass up awesome free stuff?!

When it comes down to it, who can pass up beautiful, handcrafted jewelry? Alicia Jane Boswell crafts some of the coolest metal jewelry we've seen around. Her work is the perfect balance of being tough and resilient, but at the same time being delicate and feminine. She uses traditional enamel techniques, however applying the enamel in nontraditional ways for a unique, yet subtle look.

Alicia's work is also eco-friendly, using recycled precious and non-precious metals. Just another reason that we love every piece of jewelry that she has! Spotlight: Tangs and Tines

Time keeps slipping by, and you know what that means: It's getting closer to the Wintry Market! We could not be more excited for the variety and quality of vendors we have lined up! Speaking of, we would like to introduce Tangs and Tines.

Upcycled silver jewelry made from antique and vintage silverware. That's what Tangs and Tines is all about. They started by making jewelry as gifts for their own family, but demand got so big they decided to make it available to everyone! They make a wide selection of jewelry from the old silverware, including rings, earrings, bracelets, even hair barrettes. Using antique and vintage silverware gives each piece a personal quality with an air of individuality and authenticity.

Not only do we love the designs that Tangs and Tines creates, but we are really jealous that their family gets amazing handmade jewelry as gifts all the time! Us crafty ladies here at Wintry Market have been swamped sorting through the overwhelming amount of applications we have received! We are amazed at the talent that this town has and will be releasing a final list of vendors here soon! In the meantime.......

It's time for another vendor spotlight! This time around, we are spotlighting Miss Courageous. Millie Hilgert designs and makes all Miss Courageous jewelry & accessories. Everything she makes used to be something else. Call it upcycling, recycling, repurposing, eco-friendly, crafting green, re-use, reinvent, or redesign. Whatever you call it, ultimately it means you get something fresh, fun and new from something that reminds you of your childhood. From vintage game pieces and record vinyl to bottle caps and altered LEGO bricks, Miss Courageous transforms pop culture into Pop Jewelry and Accessories for you and your home. We love the idea of taking normal, household items and turning them into fantastic pieces of jewelry, like this recycled record necklace, Scrabble bracelets, and lego cufflinks!

We are getting geared up for Wintry Market, so we wanted to start giving you a glimpse of the extremely talented vendors we will be featuring. Keep checking the blog to get a taste of what you will be able to find at Wintry Market!

This week we are introducing local artist Kathleen Keys, the creative force behind BusyBoxWorkshop, a line of unique, mixed media jewelry. Kathleen uses a variety of handpicked beads, charms, and various other mixed media and up-cycled material to make carefully crafted designs. We love the whimsy and love that is put into every unique piece of jewelry. They are so much fun!

We are so excited and lucky to have the Ballet Idaho auditorium space for Wintry Market. This space is so open and in a perfect location for our event! We took these images while taking measurements for our vendor floor plan. Now to the details!
